Great News!
After hearing Dr. Margaret Brittingham’s presentation on the Effect of Climate Change on Migratory Songbirds at the 2018 APPLES East Coast Symposium, I was inspired to seek approval for the placement of a purple martin house on our school phenology trail. A student in our wood shop department built a house (pictured below).

My Environmental Problems class did extensive background research and cost analysis to help write a proposal and presentation for the building and grounds committee. Great news! Monday, November 12th, we were approved to install a house in the Spring of 2019. Next step is site analysis with consideration of land use for nesting times.
